Gun enthusiasts are shooting themselves or other gun enthusiasts.

By: Teddy Locsin Jr.

Gun enthusiasts are shooting themselves or other gun enthusiasts. At a gun show in Medina, Ohio, a gun owner discharged a 12-gauge shotgun as he pulled out it of its case, hitting 2 bystanders in the gun fair and the deputy sheriff. In Indianapolis, a 54-year-old man shot himself with his .45 automatic as he was leaving a gun show.

Police said the guy who shot himself wouldn't be charged; he wasn't filing a complaint. Back in Ohio, another gun enthusiast shot his friend, now his enemy, with a semi-automatic handgun when he pulled the trigger. He must have been surprised at the effect of doing that.

All of the victims, gun lovers all, used up plenty of tax money being taken to hospital, but sadly there were no fatalities. Gun enthusiasts achieve that only at elementary schools or movie houses.

I took up target shooting briefly with experts. The first thing they told me was to empty my mind before firing the gun. Some people find it easier than others to empty their heads. I didn't do well. It wasn't that I had too much on my mind, but there is just so much inside my head it will take months -- even years -- to empty it.

Keep well.
