Teditorial: Shoulder to Shoulder

"As the cat doesn't speak."

By: Teddy Locsin Jr.

Noynoy is right, we all gotta hug each other tighter, kapit bisig, and push together harder in the coming year. Everyone and everything counts. You wonder why Brazil is taking off in a big way? Everybody and everything Brazilian is pitching in and carrying his, her and its share of the load of development in crime or in the economy which are sometimes the same thing as in Mexico.

In Rio de Janeiro, Reuters reports that prison authorities tried to no avail to interrogate a cat who was trying to sneak past the guards with, get this, drills, earphone, memory card, batteries and a phone charger.

Anyone of the 263 inmates are suspected of having put the cat up to the caper. And the cat won't talk. "It's tough to find out who's responsible for the action," the prison com group told the newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo, "as the cat doesn't speak."

Perhaps because of the intensity of the interrogation, Reuters reports that the cat was taken to an animal hospital for medical care or to isolate it so it won't tell other cats what it learned from its failed attempt. The cat had timed it for New Year's day when everybody had a hangover.

Keep well.
